A Glitch

The hospitalist, the rehab doctor, the case manager, the nursing staff, and the patient herself are all agreed that Tashie's next move must be to the rehab unit. Her insurance company, HealthNet, is denying coverage, claiming that this care is not necessary. This is an unfortunate example of business number-crunchers making medical decisions. The hospital plans to appeal this decision, and should they be unsuccessful, we are getting our armaments in order.
The good news is that Tashie continues to work hard with the physiotherapist (Tom) and Dan and Anne, and continues to make progress. Every move she makes is a challenge, but she is rising to the occasion, and not giving up.
